FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. Is it possible that during the liver cleanse one of the stones may get stuck? A. The pains you are experiencing right now in the gallbladder and liver region are because you already have stones stuck in these areas. The purpose of taking the Epsom Salts (which are magnesium sulfate) is to relax the bile ducts during the flush and to cause the stones to pass through. It may even be possible that the stones are accumulating in these organs because of the depletion of magnesium in our body. Read our write-up on Magnesium and it's chronic shortage in the North American diets. I always recommend that clients take at least 400 mg. daily of chelated magnesium (better absorbed than magnesium oxide which is laxative) to prevent further formation of liver and gall stones. Our Chelated Magnesium is availabe on our web site under "Vitamins". Click here. Q. I get sick drinking salty water; may I bypass this part of the liver cleanse? A. The Epsom Salts are not salty at all. They are actually Magnesium Sulphate and taste almost bitter. Many health practitioners do not recommend taking the Epsom Salts unless the gallbladder is full of stones. Because most people are chronically depleted in magnesium, I always recommend taking the Epsom Salts during the cleanse.
Q. I just finished the cleanse and didn't pass any stones. Does that mean I have no stones in the gallbladder? A. Because most people are so chronically depleted in Magnesium, it may take several liver cleanses before any stones are passed. In this case, it would be adviseable to begin taking supplemental Magnesium (I always recommend the chelated form of Magnesium, as any dosage above 400 mg. of magnesium oxide will cause a laxative effect). Taking 800 mg. of chelated Magnesium will rectify this problem. Also, taking a bath in Epsom Bath Salts at least once weekly will help to restore the magnesium in the body, especially on the day you begin the liver cleanse.
Q. I just finished a liver cleanse and passed some stones, but I'm feeling very sick now. What could be causing this problem? A. Usually, it is caused by parasites in the liver and/or gallbladder. That is why at the beginning of the cleanse it is advised to take herbs for parasites for at least a week. We offer a Complete Heavy Duty Parasite Cleanse package available on our web site under "Herbs". Click here.
Q. How can I avoid the discomfort during the night of the cleanse? A. Taking an herbal laxative the day before you begin the cleanse helps to empty the bowels and lessens the discomfort in the colon; also eating very lightly the day you begin the cleanse i.e. fruits, steamed vegetables, etc. Also, taking a bath in Epsom Bath Salts the evening of the first day of the cleanse helps to relax the body as you absorb the Magnesium Sulphate through the skin.
